"Development of a measuring system for space simulation chambers"

is sponsored by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.

 

It is about the measuring of length expansions in the µm range under space conditions. To simulate such space conditions, space simulation chambers are required.

Such a space simulation chamber must generate a temperature range from -180°C up to +200°C and an ultra high vacuum of 10e-8 mbar to facilitate the measuring of the object properties and/or length expansion of satellite components under extreme space conditions with various measuring instruments on Earth.

These measuring instruments are used to measure the temperature, length expansion and/or deformation of the measurement object, the cleanness of the vacuum and the pressure inside the chamber.
